Location
There is a seat of a prefectural government of Ibaraki in Mito. It is approximately 100 km north from Tokyo.
Population
About 300,000 people (as of 2005)
Climate
It is relatively mild climate except winter season when it is a little severely cold (the lowest temperature about ?2 degree). There are few weather disasters.
Access
It takes about 70 minutes from [Ueno station] which is the entrance to the north east of Japan from Tokyo. It takes about 100 minutes from the central Tokyo through Joban express line. It is about 70 km from Narita International Airport and takes about 120 minutes from there by direct limousine buses.
The distinctive feature of Mito city
There is a castle town of Mito Tokugawa house which is the three branch families of the Tokugawa house (1609〜1871). Mito has urban-like attraction and a rich residential area where there are nature, history and the riches of water and verdure in harmony.
